Austen’s reaction to her summer reading package was pronounced. No exaggerating, when she saw the tee with the cat on it, she said “Oooooh.” When Mama blew up the plastic globe (with tons of mistakes on it) she was in awe and soon tried the same with Mama’s blow-up bath pillow. Thanks, Auntie Janet

Birthday Play Date
Several of Austen’s friends combined their birthday parties into one big playdate. She loves playing with all the ‘new’ toys and enjoys cuddling with stuffed animals.
After playing indoors, everyone went out to play. Austen decided to go as far as she possibly could. She also found an older boy, who was really focussed on his gaming system and didn’t care to hang out too much with the toddlers… …but eventually, Austen wore him down! Imagine Mama’s surprise when it arrived in the mail.
Dean’s 2nd Birthday Party
Austen enjoyed playing and hanging out with friends at Dean’s 2nd birthday party, which was held at a different Music Together location. Although the teacher was different, Austen and Mama sang along to the familiar songs.
Watching Herself Watching Herself On Video
Today Austen spent a while sitting on the couch watching a video Dada took of her watching herself on video. Her favorite TV show is now videos of herself. All the baby books say toddlers are narcissistic!
Austen’s Doggie
Austen’s favorite stuffed animal is her doggie, which she received through Auntie Janet’s help. Austen carries it around with her everywhere including car trips and especially during sleepy time in her crib.
The Second Annual Jane Austen Tea Party Play Date …
was a smashing success. Surrounded by a plethera of little boys, scones, iced tea and fruit, Austen ran and screamed with her little friends.
Multiple tables were setup to serve the tea-loving crowds. Pride and Prejudice was playing the background, to help add to the ambiance. What Other Mommies Say About Austen
She was called “feisty,” “unfazed” and “advanced,” all in one week. At least she makes an impression.
Snacks
Austen loves to snack on food through out the day. Here she is eating her “boo-yeah bar” (as Mama and Dada call it) while in the car. The reason for the name is because Dada heard her say “booyeah” when he once gave her the bar (or at least that’s what Dada thought he heard).
“You do the hokey pokey and turn yourself around …
That’s what it’s all about!”
Austen now does the entire hokey pokey dance: hand, foot and body movements, spinning around, “shaking all about.” It’s unbelievable. Austen is exuding Grandma Judi’s personality: the spiritedness, animation and bits of wackiness. Turn the music on and the fussies disappear. This is just one of the numerous songs she sings, including Twinkle Twinkle, Baaa Baaa Black Sheep, the Alphabet Song, Elmo’s World, Teletubbies and several others from her Music Together class.
