Today Austen took a shower by herself, buckled herself in her seat in
the car and insisted that she wanted to stay home and watch Gage BY
HERSELF.
Month: September 2009
Mommy is ashamed.
At dance class today, Austen kept screaming, “I only like to dance
with boys.” Ugh!
Said “wawawawa dadadada”
And stood by himself for 3 seconds. Cruising is improving. Needs
playtables.
All while at Westerhoff waiting area.

Peaceful sleeper
It so different to have a baby who sleeps without going ballistic (and
who doesn’t wake up screeching). Our home is a different place with
baby #2.
That being said, Gage is showing signs of Austen’s level of activity
and tenaciousness. He is not angry with frustration as often though.
He will complain, however, if you don’t keep him busy and engaged in
your activities. He insists on being held and carried around often
and not left in a car seat or stroller for too long. He’ll sit on the
floor playing as long as you pay attention to him and direct a comment
his way once in a while. Give him attention and you’re sure to get a
smile (although a touch of stranger anxiety is setting in and he’s
wary when first seeing people).

Steaming Mad
Gage got steaming mad tonight when Dada dug the big chunk of cucumber
he had bit off out of his mouth. We rushed to ply him with more
cucumber.

Dance Shocker
I was shocked that Austen wouldn’t dance with me at her birthday dance
party. She turned away and grabbed one of her boys’ hands to dance
(Calvin and Aaron in particular).
Gage was happy to dance with Dada and loved all the company and
commotion.

Illness after Dtap
Gage had a bad reaction to the Dtap vaccine. His fever spiked at104.9 on Saturday! He was terribly out of sorts and I was freakingout all day. Even with tylenol and lukewarm baths he was burning. Now he seems to have a sore throat — maybe he had a virus when he got the shot so that caused his bad reaction. Currently, he’s cranky and sleepless but no fever.Austen is doing fine, actually she’s been rather sympathetic to all Gage’s crying, so she’ll be a preschool. Overall, the situation brings back memories of our first baby who whined all day.Austen was always the same, screaming a lot, whether sick or not.
