Learning New ‘Words’ At School

After Austen completes her homework, Dada reviews it and tells Austen she forgot to capitalize someone’s name, which is a mistake Austen makes frequently, so she’s kind of tired of hearing us correct her.

Austen’s response, without missing a beat:  “Fuck.”

Dada: “Ughh…(holding in a smile)…Austen, you should not use that word.”

Austen:  (with a sincere tone) “I’m only saying fuck to myself.”

Dada: (now trying to hold in laughter) “Still, it is not a nice word so don’t say it.”

Austen:  “OK.  Sorry.”

4th Grade Science Fair

We didn’t understand the science but had fun with the hands-on activities, especially those involving cars (magnet attraction & solar power), food coloring (watching dishwasher soap repelling the color molecules) and sticking probes into lemons (enough energy to power an LED clock)!

We also got to explore Austen’s classroom and activities.
